My Process
I use digital photography to showcase the existing beauty of our world that surrounds us, brings us joy and helps us heal. Through landscape, storytelling and micro photography, I try to tell stories about our life, our environment, and bring some of the smallest and most intricate details to the light.
I also use staging to imagine stories and to raise awareness on various social and individual matters. I usually imagine a story and find the objects I could use to express it, but sometimes objects tell me a story, and I listen.
I use abstract acrylic painting to bring ideas and emotions into life. My sources of inspiration are generated from nature, spirituality, traditions, and everyday life, but I usually prefer to not paint what I can photograph.
I love working with spirals and circles and I often like to give my paintings more than one title. Currently, my style is clean and structured. The dynamics or tensions are generated by the forms, shapes and color transitions rather than by brush strokes or textures.
I like to paint on medium to large size canvases so I have the freedom of expression. I usually begin with an image or a story in my head and I sketch it in pencil. When the design is ready, I transfer it to canvas, and start painting until I am satisfied with the result or when something inside tells me to stop. I like to mix my own colors and I prefer not to use them straight from the tube. I also use professional grade paints and materials.
In both photography and painting, I use sacred geometry and I try to capture and include fractals whenever the opportunity arises. I do this with the purpose of bringing a sense of balance to the composition and tranquility to the viewer.
To highlight the importance of recycling, I buy used / vintage frames and I give them a new life by upcycling and using them to compliment my framed artwork.
I cut my own mat board so I can have the flexibility of choosing the best suitable color for the piece I frame. I use acid free professional grade materials except in cases when I reuse the materials that came with a vintage frame. If I am not sure of their provenience I mention it in the product description.
